Seems every day there are new stories and articles banning one food, encouraging us to eat more of another. Then the very next week, just the opposite. No wonder people are confused about food!
While I don’t claim to have all the answers to the crazy world of nutrition, as a certified nutritional counselor and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Counselor, I am keenly aware of the importance of food in any health plan. If you want to lose weight, about 80% of the loss comes from changing both what you eat and your eating patterns.
Eliminate the word “diet” from your vocabulary! It implies short-term goals, not life-long changes, which are the more effective. Food doesn’t have to be our enemy, nor does it have to be what we turn to in times of crises. We need to eat to live, but we don’t need to live just to eat.
